Here are some of the programs offered through Some Other Place.

All Some Other Place special programs are available only by application.  Families are screened to determine eligibility.

    Emergency Service Program
  • Each year thousands of families approach the emergency services program of Some Other Place for assistance with life’s basic needs.  As funds are available, a verifiable emergency exists and there is no other available resource, Some Other Place will assist.  Services available are limited and short term.  Services include:  food, clothing, and financial assistance with housing, utilities, and medications.  There are eligibility requirements.   Call for additional information.
    Meals on Wheels (home delivered meals)
  • Some Other Place home delivers meals to homebound residents of Beaumont. The only requirement for this program is that recipient must be home bound.  Meals are delivered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.   Space is limited.  To obtain more information about this program call the Some Other Place Nutrition Center. 
    Henry's Place
  • Henry’s Place is Some Other Place’s day center for the homeless.  The mission of Henry’s Place is to give the homeless and brief respite from the streets.  Over 3,000 unduplicated homeless individuals make over 11,000 visits to Henry’s Place each year.  Services available at Henry’s Place include:  breakfast, showers, laundry services, and access to an address and telephone.  Additional services are available depending on the particular need of the homeless individual.  For more information call Henry’s Place.
    Miriam B. Rogers Community Center
  • The Miriam B. Rogers Community Center is a wonderful facility that houses all of Some Other Place’s special programs.  It is also available at no charge for agencies and organizations that serve Some Other Place clientele at no charge for meetings and supportive functions.
    John Terry Moore Thanksgiving Store
  • Some Other Place sets up a “grocery store” and invites prescreened families to come to “shop” for their Thanksgiving Day meal.  Each family chooses the particular foods they desire and are provided with fresh produce, dairy products and gift cards for their choice of meat.  Each year Some Other Place serves over 500 families through this program.
    Anne Rogers Vaxler Nutrition Center
  • Better known as the "soup kitchen," which provides a hot meal to those in the local community who need this service.
    Back to School Program
  • Each year Some Other Place provides new  school clothing and school supplies for approximately 1,000 children of  families served by Some Other Place.  Other school related services are also provided.
    Christmas “Giving Tree” Program
  • Special Christmas assistance is provided through the “Giving Tree” program.  Approximately 1,000 children of families who have been prescreened are served through this program.  Christmas wishes of these children are shared with Some Other Place supporters and gifts are presented to parents/guardians to give to the children on Christmas Day.  

    Some Other Place serves a traditional Christmas Day lunch on Christmas Day.  Volunteers for Christmas day come from the Temple Emanuel congregation.
